SMURF ATTACK means sending forged ICMP echo request packets to IP broadcast addresses.

LAND ATTACK means sending a packet to a machine with the source host/port the same as the destination host/port crashes 
a lot of boxes.

Both SMURF ATTACK and LAND ATTACK use the IP SPOOFING technique
