let's just say that i work for a regulatory agency dealing 
with lawyers.  for us, we don't allow home machine to 
connect to our VPN.  i created a small 
documentation/policy/recommendation for this not to happen.

we are requiring all laptop, including loaners to have 
firewall.  as far as AV, password restrictions are stated in 
our acceptable use policy as well as other security amendments.
