Well, without RPC many services that make up the base Windows functions would not be able to start. Now I will admit that many of the services that depend on RPC aren't necessary for most people's usage, but they would be necessary in a corporate envronment. A couple examples: IIS (for web servers) WMI COM+ Cryptographic Services (Maintians Root Certificates and a database of the signatures of important windows files) Disk Manager Your network connections... Task Scheduler Human Interface Device Access (Controls my mouse among other periferals... And probably yours) Hope this helps answer your question. Tim Donahue

On the other hand , the www.BlackViper.com says that we can not Disable the RPC ,because it is Critical for windows OS, and after disabling RPC , our OS will not BOOT . Can you please tell me what thay mean? ----- Babak from IRAN www.voidspace.org.uk/babak2 www.voidspace.org.uk/babak -------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- --------------
