Only way u will know for sure is to use a sniffer to see what traffic is actually coming in. -----Original Message----- From: Prasanna M [mailto:PrasannaM () catsglobal co in] Sent: Wednesday, December 01, 2004 4:33 AM To: 'security-basics () securityfocus com' Subject: Hot Brick Software Firewall Hi I am trying the Hot Brick s/w firewall (for personal use) for the past few days. I have found that it shows a lot of "denied" traffic in its list - and this list is quite extensive and some among the list have close to 1000 attempts in a day or so. I have been using Sygate before and the denied list was quite small, compared to now. I am wondering if Hot Brick is generating a lot of false positives, and maybe I should switch back to Sygate again? i dont see the network icon showing any network traffic, but the firewall is going red like there is no tomorrow! Any ideas/suggestions would be appreaciated. Thanks Prasanna
