hi all,

i'd like to allow my internal network to use yahoo
voice chat. in order to do so, i must add some
iptables rules in my firewall. so i went to yahoo's
troubleshooting page
(http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mesg/twin/twin-36.html)
to find out what ports are needed for the thing to
work. here it is :

Voice Chat Connection:

    * Protocol:  UDP or TCP
    * Servers:
          o v1.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v2.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v3.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v4.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v5.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v6.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v7.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v8.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v9.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v10.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v11.vc.scd.yahoo.com
          o v13.vc.sc5.yahoo.com
          o vc1.vip.scd.yahoo.com
    * Ports:  5000-5010

after reading the page, i have a question that you
guys out there might help me. why does it has so many
servers? what is the benefit? do i have to write 14
iptables rules for this voicechat to work?

thank you.

regards,
gregor
