I had to run their setup program.  I was given a CD to set up the account.
I don't believe that it actually installed software on the PC, but it
connected to their server to activate the account.

After I finished getting the account activated, I put the cable modem and
router back in line the way it should have been and everything worked fine.

I think that I could have if I had wanted to, but the cable modem was
already there.

Unfortunately I didn't have much time to do the setup.  It was a "do this
while I am visiting" kind of thing.
