Hi Juan, I think they primarily recommend it because of the functionality benefits to IE6. It also has the Java VM change in it that MS is required to do after the settlement with Sun. IE6 is also supported. You'll find that IE5 will go out of support very soon. The only security related thing I could imagine is that it's configured to work with Windows Update whereas IE5 will just ask you to upgrade to IE6 if you use Windows Update. The Windows Update is one of the better ways to keep systems patched. Then again since you said you were running this on your servers, they are probably patched anyway...right? :-) I might suggest that you don't surf the net from your servers though. That's opening them up directly to any malicious JavaScript, or any malicious sites. It's just one more way you expose your servers to a hostile environment. I realize there are some cases where you can't avoid it, but as a general rule, you might not want to surf from the servers.
