Filtered means that a firewall, filter, or other network obstacle is covering the port and preventing nmap from determining whether the port is open. http://www.insecure.org/nmap/data/nmap_manpage.html cheers Ivan Ivan Coric, CISSP Senior IT Security Specialist Information Technology WorkCover Queensland Ph: (07) 30066414 Fax: (07) 30066424 Email: ivan.coric () workcoverqld com au

I have been unhappy with many of the port scanners out there and I'm just starting to learn the power of nmap. I've been reviewing nmap scan results on my network. If a port comes back as filtered does that mean that it is open, closed, firewalled, or just unknown? ddjjembe _________________________________________________________________ Don't just search.
