In addition to what everyone else is saying about kismet there is a
bundled utility called gpsmap which will plot the estimated physical
location of the access point on a map and attempt to guess how much area
it is covering.  This only works well if you can walk or drive all
around the area where you suspect the device is at and your card is 
supported in driver/kismet to register signal strength.
