Effectiveness and security of biometric authentication on USB devices

Some users at my company have purchased USB storage devices that use
biometrics.  I've been aware of many issues with biometrics having
false accept rates in the past, but that was several years ago.  Have
you done (or are you aware of) research into the security of these
devices?  If so, I'd appreciate your insights.
