You could always invest in an endpoint management tool that includes this capability WITH real time monitoring.   There 
are several emerging companies to compete with the BIGFIX's of the world.   Check with http://lgsystems.net as I think 
you can download an agent to test it out.  I know they have built in CIS hardening as well.
