Does anyone know organizations which give away spam captures?

Try the Usenet group, news.admin.net-abuse.sightings. It is a high-volume list of spam captures, phishing e-mails, and so on.

I mean, obviously I will get lots of spam just from posting on this list (;)) but I would like to get more to analyze.

You might get some, but we do everything in our power to prevent this... including moderating all our lists, and removing the @ and . symbols when messages get posted to our archive located at www.securityfocus.com/archive/105. But other sites mirror our lists and don't do this; thus, you will still get some spam.

It seems like every couple months some student does a project which requires spam but they always have to start from ground zero. Isn't there anywhere which gives spam to security researchers?

Oh, just post to Usenet and wait a day... or signup at an obnoxious website or newsletter place that sells your address... or put your e-mail address on a busy, legitimate website and wait... it won't take long.

Kelly Martin
