Thanks guys, I'm going to test out NOD32 first I think. Here's a related question which is quite worrying, for me. In carrying out upgrades for the Symantec AV suite over the past few years, I found myself wondering whether the hassle and fallout from an upgrade(often requiring extra patches and problem solving) outweighed the need to patch. ie, the potential for losing Availability appears to be higher from the patch itself than it does from the viruses it is meant to protect my network from. And the fact that it is now an established attack vector in and of itself makes me feel like I'm chasing my tail. Does anyone else have similar concerns/experiences? -----Original Message----- From: Isaac Perez Moncho [mailto:suscripcions () tsolucio com] Sent: Monday, March 12, 2007 5:24 AM To: Murda Mcloud Cc: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: Re: small business av recommendations We use Nod32 for our company and clients, it works great. Performance and detection rate combination are the best I seen in all AV we tested. The only one that could as good as nod32 is karpesky, but maybe the interaction with the user isn't as good. If you choose nod32 you will not be disapointed with it. En/na Murda Mcloud ha escrit:
Hi all, I want to move away from Symantec Client Security in five months time when our subscription/support ends with them. I am looking at Kaspersky or Nod32 as the replacement so if anyone has any info they could share with me, that would be great. We have about 90 machines 5 servers, all Windows save for 2 Fedora boxes. I want a central console for admin and definition updates(ie download updates to a central spot and have clients download from there. From what

can see Nod32 looks good(and fast). The perf hit from SCS is painful and the fact that it seems to be getting worse at catching malware when it isn't breaking things are the major reasons for moving away from them. The upgrade process is a bit of a nightmare too.
