If any of the servers are changing hands, ie being sold to pay off creditors, take a sledgehammer to any long term storage that could possibly hold proprietary data like hdd's, backup tapes, etc... The cost of replacing a drive is much less than getting sued/put in jail because you lost patient data, financial data or whatever. Plus, it can be cathartic to have an office space moment with the drives >:-) Mac. -----Original Message----- From: Ali, Saqib <docbook.xml () gmail com> Sent: Monday, April 07, 2008 10:54 AM To: k7.fantr () gmail com Cc: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: Re: Shredding Digital data on Mainframes and AS400 Shred the physical storage media. Does anyone know how to shred data on an AS400 or a mainframe? I do not know the OS's yet so any commands that may be built into whatever flavors that you are used to would be great. We had a business partner go belly-up with potentially lots of private data on their systems. I can handle the PC's, but they have other systems as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
