The Cain & Abel documentation gets pretty detailed with this process: http://www.oxid.it/ca_um/ I think any of the tool docs or information here would be useful as well: http://www.openwall.com/passwords/microsoft-windows-nt-2000-xp-2003-vista Good luck in your search! There should be a ton of pertinent information on this topic! :) <- snip -> Hi Friends, Nowaday, I am studying on the Topic - Cracking Windows password. There are lot of tools out there which can dump LM and NTLM hashes for you. But as far i know, you can't touch the SAM file when windows is running, so, how does these tools work. Is the sam dumped in-memory? Regards V
