Hey Paolo

Mike has hit the highpoints. The thing is wireless security is not easy. You will see lots of conflicting advice "do
this" vs "don't bother doing this because it is an easy hack". The thing is even if the tip is hackable, ie WEP and
don't broadcast SSID, each one adds another layer of weeding out "script kiddies". So if your equipment supports
nothing more than WEP, even though it is hackable it will keep out your nosy neighbors and "War Drivers". And so on.
Overall the concept is defense in depth.

You don't say what type of hotspot. Home/Home office, or coffeeshop free hotspot, corporate internal network ...

Go to techrepublic.com and search there. They have lots of stuff that will answer your question in more detail. ie:
- 66 pages worth of "TechRepublic's Ultimate Guide to Enterprise Wireless LAN Security".
- http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/security/?p=364 - 10 WiFi Security Tips. This one covers "everything you ever
wanted to know"

Motorola has a good doc, "A Manager's Guide to Wireless Hotspots - How to Take Advantage of them While Protecting the
Security of Your Corporate Network"

http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wireless/WiFi_Wireless_Networks_and_Technology.htm - ABOUT.COM has a whole bunch of
good articles you can look at

Good luck
