We have been using an application called autocipher (www. autocipher.com), It is an agentless application that works 
for all Windows machines in trusted Domains as well as Workgroups, DMZ etc. All the passwords are encrypted and no one 
knows the password. It is available on-demand and provides an audit trail for who requested the password. All the 
machines can be scheduled for a password change and the application provides immediate recovery for business 
continuity.
