These things happen always and you don't have a silver bullet for
these. If i were you i'd

> Run with user rights for regular work
> Have an updated anti-virus and run scheduled scans weekly
> Update patches as and when applicable (Secunia PSI helps a lot)
> Use CCcleaner & Spybot to perform periodic maintenance
> Use Firefox with NoScript for general browsing requirements

This could go on but on a minimum you can use the points above.
