Sorry to hear, hope any sensitive data was encrypted. Curious: Are you more worried about recovering the HW or the data? In general, no tracking software = no easy way to track over the wire as far as I know. You'll have to rely on luck -- checking eBay, craiglist, etc for your serial # to show up. Local pawn shop, too maybe? ...unless of course the person who stole your new laptop installs/registers new SW using the serial # in which case HP should be able to flag it, but how often do we see that happen... So if I were you, if you're looking for a fighting chance, I'd get all "CSI" on your stolen laptop. When/where/how did it get stolen? Any cameras/witnesses, etc?
