The syntax of the /etc/hosts.equiv and .rhosts doesn't have a comment. If you put something in there it's assumed to mean something. Administrators need to know the syntax of the files they deal with.
Vendors also. For instance: usenet@phoenix % more /.rhosts.orig # @(#).rhosts 8.1 Ultrix 9/18/92 Ultrix 4.4, for reference. Chris P.S.
