 The information in the following Security Bulletin should be acted upon
 as soon as possible.  Hewlett Packard will not be liable for any
 consequences to any customer resulting from customer's failure to fully
 implement instructions in this Security Bulletin as soon as possible.

PROBLEM:  A vulnerability exists in the rlogin executable.

          This Security Bulletin supersedes the previous rlogin security
          bulletin HPSBUX9702-052, released on 5th February 1997.

PLATFORM: HP9000 Series 700/800s running HP-UX 9.X and HP-UX 10.X releases.

DAMAGE:   A user could potentially gain access to privileged data.

SOLUTION: Apply the appropriate patch to correct the vulnerability:

          HP-UX 9.00/01/03/04/05/07 : PHNE_11726
          HP-UX 10.00/01/10         : PHNE_11727
          HP-UX 10.20/30            : PHNE_11728

AVAILABILITY: All patches are are available now.

I. Nature of the vulnerabilities

  A.  rlogin
      A user could potentially gain access to privileged data.

      This Security Bulletin supersedes the previous rlogin security
      bulletin HPSBUX9702-052, released on 5th February 1997.

   B. Fixing the problems

      The problem can both be eliminated by applying the recommended patch.

   C. Recommended solution

      Hewlett-Packard recommends that the following patch be applied
      as appropriate:

          HP-UX 9.00/01/03/04/05/07 : PHNE_11726
          HP-UX 10.00/01/10         : PHNE_11727
          HP-UX 10.20/30            : PHNE_11728
