Important Announcement – Interim Guidance for Implementing Safety Practices for Critical Infrastructure Workers Who May Have Had Exposure to a Person with Suspected or Confirmed COVID-19

Please find below an important update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Cybersecurity 
and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) regarding the continued health, safety, and protection of Essential Critical 
Infrastructure Workers who may have been exposed to COVID-19. These two important informational products include 
"Interim Guidance for Implementing Safety Practices for Critical Infrastructure Workers Who May Have Had Exposure to a 
Person with Suspected or Confirmed COVID-19" and a quick reference of the Dos and Donts [ 
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/Essential-Critical-Workers_Dos-and-Donts.pdf ] for employers and 
employees related to COVID-19 exposures.

While the Interim Guidance [ 
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/critical-workers/implementing-safety-practices.html ] specifically 
calls attention to critical infrastructure workers serving in the specific capacities and functions, as below, the 
guidance can apply to all critical infrastructure workers with the exception of Healthcare Providers who are covered 
under separate guidance [ https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/guidance-risk-assesment-hcp.html ].


  * Federal, state, & local law enforcement 
  * 911 call center employees 
  * Fusion Center employees 
  * Hazardous material responders from the government and the private sector 
  * Janitorial staff and other custodial staff 
  * Workers  including contracted vendors  in food and agriculture, critical manufacturing, informational technology, 
transportation, energy and government facilities 

Employers should implement the recommendations in the Interim Guidance [

Businesses and Employers, to Plan and Respond to Coronavirus Disease 2019, to help prevent and slow the spread of 
COVID-19 in the workplace.
