i would consider python as an "artwork" and Guido as the "maker".

I think 'art' and 'maker' are not appropriate together. a maker
builds brick walls. a creator creates art.

A rather limited view of both creating archetecture and building works
of art.

and if they use 'hacker' not as a security thing I think
that's stupid. it was cute in the 70's when people around MIT
used 'hacker' and 'hack' and there were seven different spellings
of 'nerd' but that's wrong now.

My unabridged Webster's give this definition:

Hacker Hack"er, n.
One who, or that which, hacks. Specifically: A cutting
instrument for making notches; esp., one used for notching
pine trees in collecting turpentine; a hack.

Ever since John Markoff many people equate "hacker" with criminal.

Oh, and the term "hacker" in the sense of computer hacker goes back at
least as far as the early 60s.
