News from the Future.. John Blumenthal was arrested on Friday for aiding and abetting Al Qaeda. He is charged with breaking the USA Patriot Act after selling cyberweapons to the terrorist group. Mr. Blumenthal claimed he didn't know who the purchasers were and that it just doesn't matter, stating, "Its a global free market that can't be controlled." He added, "My exploits are constitutionally protected free speech." A government wiretap showed that the exploits for sale from his Tuvalu based "0Bay" website were purchased by a German Al Qaeda cell which was under investigation. The terrorists had planned to use the exploits to shut down New York City's power grid during rush hour to maximze the death toll from releasing sarin gas in the subways. Attorney General Gonzales said that the government is now considering adding exploit code to the list of restricted technologies under ITAR so that these websites can be shut down before cyberweapons are sold to terrorists.
...and on the day after that, Commissioner-for-life Barbara Boxer from the permanent 911 Commission was interviewed on the CNN news program Crossfire by it's hosts Heraldo Rivera and Bruce Schneier, to question the recent findings that 0Bay was in fact funded by US Air Force-sponsored Venture Capitalists for long range military research. New York State's US Senator Dave Aitel will also be interviewed. "if we outlaw exploit development only hackers will develop exploits" _______________________________________________ Dailydave mailing list Dailydave () lists immunitysec com https://lists.immunitysec.com/mailman/listinfo/dailydave
