ABOUT SYSCAN'11 TAIPEI This will be the 4th SyScan conference in Taipei and this year we intend to promote more interaction between the speakers and the attendees. To do so, we will be having a networking dinner party for all attendees and speakers on the first night of the conference. Hopefully within a relaxed environment of alcohol food, attendees will be able to ask more questions, achieve 2-way communication and get to know the speakers better. The dates for SyScan'11 TAIPEI will be 17 - 18 November 2011. TOPICS AND AREAS OF INTEREST The topics and areas of interest for SyScan'11 Taipei will be as follow: Offensive Technologies The areas of interest for this topic are: Advanced Persistent Threats Exploitation techniques and bypassing-mechanisms Malware Rootkits Bug Finding The areas of interest for this topic are: Fuzzing and Static Analysis Source code auditing Other Methodologies Cloud Computing and Virtualization Client-Side Security The areas of interest for this topic are: Browsers Microsoft Office/OpenOffice/GoogleDocs Devices and/or Hardware Hacking The areas of interest for this topic are: Mobile devices (phones, readers etc) Embedded Devices Game Consoles E-readers Antennas Web-Centric Technologies The areas of interest for this topic are: Social Media PHP Java .Net/ASP Web Service Protocols Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) The areas of interest for this topic are: Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA) Telecommunication Networks Transportation Control and Management Networks Emergency Services Any topics that will catch the attention of the CFP committee and/or the world. SELECTION COMMITTEE The Selection Committee for SyScan'11 comprises of the following personnel: Thomas Lim - Organiser of SyScan and CEO of COSEINC Dave Aitel - Founder and CEO of Immunitysec Matthew "Shok" Conover - Symantec Researchers of COSEINC The Selection Committee will review all submissions and determine the final list of speakers for SyScan'11. SELECTION PROCESS The CFP committee will select 12 speakers based on the following criteria. Newness of presentation material (have you presented this material at other conferences before?) Quality of presentation material Impact of presentation material Availability of Demo SPEAKERS' PRIVILEGES Speakers of SyScan'11 Taipei will be entitled to the following privileges: Reimbursement of air-ticket for one person up to a maximum amount of NT$23000. 3 nights of accommodation. Breakfast, lunch and dinner during conference. After-conference party. A very healthy dose of alcohol and fun. SPEAKERS' HONORARIUM All selected speakers with brand new presentation will be honored with NT$10000 (Not applicable to COSEINC researchers). All selected speakers who submit their presentation material by 28 October 2011 will be honored with NT$5000. All selected speakers who submit a detailed Technical White Paper of their selected presentation by 5 November 2011 will be honored with NT$5000. Any speakers that require more time must inform the CFP committee during the CFP submission.
