In an hour I magically recover from pneumonia and fly to San Fran to give this talk (which if you've been following along as I dev'd it is basically done): http://prezi.com/wdqab38lxr89/three-cyber-war-fallacies-usenix-2011/ The conference page is here, and if you look at the picture you can see http://www.usenix.org/events/sec11/tech/ from the picture, that is a LOT of bored academics listening to me go on and on for about an hour and a half about cyberwar things. I encourage any of those hacker peeps in San Fran to come and crash the party! Who knows, maybe I'll get heckled by Sinan? One of my friends was saying earlier how he doesn't see why people use Prezi - and my thoughts are that most technical talks are simple linear processes. X Problem was found. Y was used to solve it. It worked Z percent of the time. Actually, I'm curious about the crowd at Usenix - not about their technical skills or fashion sense, but about the culture. One thing I like about BlackHat is that you get to hang out with a wider group of people who share the same inner culture. The reality is, you can be in a circle of people, half of whom you've never met before, and share, without fear, an opinion that would have at some level deeply offended or embarrassed almost any group you could party with at home. * * Ah, of course, and at BlackHat, the best AP to impersonate with SILICA was "gogointernet", the flight service from American. -dave
