You know that feeling you get, when you speed through a red light or run a 
stop sign?

There's that first ghastly flash of comprehension when just want to get 
through the intersection without killing anybody. Then, as your heart 
restarts, there comes a guilty instant when you look around to see if a 
cop is around.

"Whew!" you sigh, if you get away with it. "Close one."

The Florida Department of Education's Office of Student Financial 
Assistance must be feeling that sort of bated-breath impulse. The agency 
is notifying 475 student-loan borrowers that their financial records have 
been exposed to identity theft because the OSFA managed to lose 1,186 
"promissory notes" that they signed when they were going to school, and 
have now fallen behind on.
