http://www.amarillo.com/stories/121009/new_news1.shtml Two packets of documents recently were mailed anonymously to the Amarillo Globe-News and a local television station with a handwritten note that claimed, "These were found in the recycling dumpsters in Canyon. Identity theft and child safety don't seem to concern our public school systems." The documents listed names of about 100 students at Bushland Elementary School who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals through a federal program during the 2003-04 and 2005-06 school years. Applications for subsidized meals from more than 20 families included their Social Security numbers, incomes, addresses and phone numbers. The discovery of the documents sparked an investigation by the Bushland Independent School District to determine how the documents wound up in a commercial recycling bin in Canyon, where they had the potential for being used in illicit ways.
