Name, address, phone, e-mail and product serial numbers were released, while “no credit card or other personal data appears to have been included,” Acer spokesman Henry Wang said in an e-mailed response to questions. ... While we’re on the security beat, Bloomberg reports that Taiwan-based computer maker Acer has admitted that a security breach exposed customers’ names, emails and product serial numbers. No credit-card data was compromised, said the company, which said the breach involved its Packard Bell unit. Acer’s America operations are based in San Jose.
