Rupert Murdoch was hunkering down in the London offices of News
International Monday as his media empire weathered a firestorm of new
allegations that suggest the dubious information-gathering techniques
practiced by company journalists were not confined to the
now-shuttered News of the World.

Victims of phone-hacking allegedly practiced at the doomed tabloid
grew to include victims of 9/11 and senior members of the royal
family, including Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of
Cornwall.

Reporters at the Sunday Times and The Sun, both owned by News
International, are accused of targeting former prime minister Gordon
Brown, allegedly attempting to access the his voicemails, obtain his
personal banking information, legal files and family medical records.
