http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/260926/Identity-theft-threat-to-millions US giant Hewlett Packard, which has a major contract with the Department for Work and Pensions, wants to shift 200 IT support jobs to India from Newcastle, Sheffield and Lytham St Annes as part of a cost-cutting drive. If Ministers allow the move to go ahead the details of millions of benefit claimants, including pensioners and those receiving child benefit, with names, addresses and bank accounts could all become available to staff in Bangalore. The decision by banks to move jobs to India has already led to widespread fraud and identity theft. In 2005, it emerged that bank and credit card details were being sold for as little as £3 a person by subcontractors in India, enabling criminals to raid the accounts of Britons or clone their cards. _______________________________________________ Dataloss Mailing List (dataloss () datalossdb org) Archived at http://seclists.org/dataloss/ Unsubscribe at http://datalossdb.org/mailing_list Learn encryption strategies that manage risk and shore up compliance.
