(KMOX) – If your Bank of America credit/debt card stops working it may have been compromised. Bank of America recently sent out alerts saying they disabled several area cards out of fear that account information may have gotten into the wrong hands. All customers were alerted via a robocall earlier this week. In a statement Bank of America said, “We take these proactive steps to protect our customers and minimize any occurrence of fraud.” A spokesperson at Bank of America won’t comment on if the compromised cards were related to the recent security breach which exposed the card numbers of 2.4 million Schnucks customers. “We have not heard of anything specific but I can tell you that we, along with other banks, periodically receive alerts from the payment networks about cards that may have been compromised at a third-party location.” New Bank of America credit/debt cards should be arriving in the mail soon, according to the bank. _______________________________________________ Dataloss-discuss Mailing List (dataloss-discuss () datalossdb org) Archived at http://seclists.org/dataloss/ Unsubscribe at http://datalossdb.org/mailing_list Supporters: Risk Based Security (http://www.riskbasedsecurity.com/) Risk Based Security equips organizations with security intelligence, risk management services and on-demand security solutions to establish customized risk-based programs to address information security and compliance challenges.
