We have implemented a solution that is keeping out a large percentage of incoming malicious e-mail. We are running MimeDefang + SpamAssassin + virus scan on our mail gateway. Our mail gateway is actually 5 mailservers (V100s), set up in a round-robin-dns fashion, with the MX record for every host in our netblock with a DNS entry and port 25 open, pointing to this mail cluster. The mail cluster is setup to deliver direct if it is the "best MX" for a specified host. Helms, Sandra wrote:
Greetings - We use WebMail on a Solaris server for student mail. We do not have virus protection on that server or any mail gateway virus protection. We do not have a way to monitor whether or not students have current anti-virus software running. We are interested in solutions that have worked for others. Thanks very much. Sandra J.
