DNS blacklisting campus wide?

Is anyone using a "blacklist" in DNS to limit access to spyware or adware
sites by returning 127.0.0.1 for these, somewhat like what spybot Search &
Destroy uses in the hosts file on a PC?

For example, using a list such as at
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt

Thanks,
Richard
