Do you allow them to install IE extensions and toolbars like Google's
or Yahoo's toolbars? It would seem the same policy should apply to Firefox,
whatever your site does....

For what it's worth, letting students install add-ons on lab machines
is probably a phenomenally bad idea, just due to the "bad add-on causes
support issues" factor.  You may or may not want faculty/staff doing
it on their desktop boxes - that's just a specific instance of "are they
allowed to install software?".
