**Cross-post from ResNet-L**

The results are in. Overall, there were 33 respondents including our
institution. Of those :

16 use a Barracuda Appliance (48%)

04 use Sophos PureMessage (12%)

03 use CipherTrust IronMail (09%) [sometimes in conjunction with
another AV package]

03 use Mailfrontier/Sonicwall (09%) [sometimes in conjunction with
another AV package]

02 use IronPort (06%)

01 uses eSoft Threatwall (03%)

01 uses Fortinet (03%) [in conjunction with TrendMicro]

01 uses Roaring Penguin's CanIt (03%)

01 uses a homegrown MailScanner/SpamAsssassin/ClamAV/FuzzyOCR setup (03%)

01 uses TrendMicro exclusively (03%)

The majority of people are pleased with their product choice. Most
expressed minor complaints about end user UIs/functionality, inability
to catch 100% of image spam, support costs, and false negatives/positives.

There were only 2 people who had some serious issues with their setups,
one was a Barracuda user the other a Sophos PureMessage user.

Thank you to all who took the time to respond!
