We are also using Captivator-gw but a slightly modified version that is hosted on google code.

What free or cheap captive portal software are you guys using for
authenticating students on your wireless networks? We are currently are
using a moded version of wifidog that auths to our AD server. It works
fairly well until over 100 users hit it. We now have over 400 users
hitting it at any given time and it crawls. WIFI dog looks like a dead
project so I need to move on. We don't need the fine grain statics wifidog
offers, just something nice and simple to give a splash page, and ties into
AD for authentication.

We are currently using an older in-house solution for our main captive
portal and are considering moving to a vendor-based option that ties to
some of our others systems.

We had used NoCat several years ago, but found it didn't suit some of
our needs. http://nocat.net/ We have more recently started running
Captivator-gw for a couple subnets --with good results.
http://net.doit.wisc.edu/~dwcarder/captivator/ NoCat was a 'router'
and Captivator is a 'switch' before a router. There are always a number
of FoSS products out there and finding what is right for your needs will
determine which product is best.
