Job Description

Assist the University in maintaining the integrity of its information systems by working as part of the Incident 
Response Team (IRT) to expediently identify risks to University systems and infrastructure. Perform daily operational 
security tasks, including monitoring of security systems, event correlation, and risk remediation activities. 
Participate in incident response for identified compromises of systems and/or data. Provide expertise on a wide variety 
of operating systems and networked devices to determine root cause of compromise and identify potential for exposure of 
protected data. Assist in the development and implementation of tools and techniques for incident detection, incident 
response, and digital forensics.
Required Skills

Requires: B.A./B.S, experience using programming languages such as Perl, PHP, SQL, and familiarity with network 
technologies including protocols, an understanding of security technologies including intrusion detection/prevention, 
firewalls, vulnerability scanning, and data protection/encryption, and ant least one year of work experience in UNIX or 
Linux operating systems, and Windows operating systems. CISSP, CISM, SSCP,SANS GCIH or GCFA, or other information 
security certification is preferred.
This position may be required to work extended hours from time to time, particularly during incident response and 
requires accessibility for emergency response 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Due to the incident response duties assigned to this position, the role has exceptionally high requirements for the 
ability to handle confidential matters with discretion. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and will be required to pass a 
fingerprint-based background check.
