We recently outsourced our alumni to GMail, but haven't outsourced students or
faculty/staff yet. Whether or not your site has gone that route, I'd be
interested in hearing what your take was on the issue of "our important data
now lives on servers we don't control" (everything from "who's problem is it if
the provider gets hacked/crashes/etc" to "how do we deal with subpoenas and
e-discovery issues")....
