Thank you, Melissa. They're a great resource if we can use them. I received an email off list from a gentleman w/ relevant and useful content and am posting it for him. Hope no one objects. Hello Dean, I hope you don’t mind me responding to your request directly. And if you like what my response, would you mind sharing it with the EDUCAUSE Security and other EDU list serves? I sent the below message to the SANS/EDU Advisory Board, but this is open to all staff and faculty for EDU’s. If we get enough of a response, we can make this happen. ========================================== From: Daryl Gilbertson [mailto:dgilbertson () sans org] Sent: Wednesday, May 18, 2011 9:00 AM To: 'sans-edu () case edu' Subject: EDU Survey: SANS NetWars tournament - complete by June 1... Please complete the short Survey Monkey at the link below by June 1. Let us know your level of interest in a SANS NetWars challenge (tournament) through the SANS Partnership program. The EDU advisory board showed some interest in a possible fall or winter challenge open to all Partnership constituents. This would be done online on a specific date/time in a “tournament” mode. No travel needed. To read an overview of NetWars, visit (http://www.sans.org/netwars/). Survey: (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NetWars-ng) FYI, if you recall from our monthly meetings, we talked about running a NetWars tournament in April at or around EDUCAUSE Security 2012. However, Ed Skoudis of CounterHackChallenges.com recently told me that he can have a tournament mode by October 2011. Also, just today, Dr. Glen Sagers with Illinois State University said NetWars might be a great way to get his students prepared for the CCDC Team College Competition in Feb/Apr 2012. It would be great to get anybody on campus involved who has an interested in Cyber Security, including Staff, Faculty and Students. We were able to save approximately $144,585 in training costs under this program. Better trained IT staff means more secure systems and networks. Everyone wins." - Randy Marchany, Virginia Tech
