Hi Matthew,

There was a presentation at the Internet2 Technical Exchange from a speaker from IU:

https://meetings.internet2.edu/2015-technology-exchange/detail/10003969/
https://meetings.internet2.edu/media/medialibrary/2015/10/19/20151006-shankar-hipaafisma.pdf

Building a Risk Management Framework for HIPAA and FISMA Compliance

Where he spoke about HIPAA/FISMA in their HPC. He didn’t have a pricing model, but there was some brief discussion
about how security could impact cost. He had several slides on compliance.

We had a discussion with a couple other people starting at a Science DMZ session around how all of this fits into the
research security picture and an a campus’s information security program.

Hope that helps,

Nick

Subject: [SECURITY] High Performance Computing for Regulated Data

All,

I am looking for higher education experience in leveraging high performance computing environments for HIPAA/HITECH
data sets. Does anyone have a model for this? We are trying to put together something that has models that address:

  1. Compliance
  2. Pricing

While many vendors may have solutions, we are looking specifically for higher education feedback at this time.

Please feel free to reach out directly, or on the list. Thank you.
