We have a script that emails that notice to the department of student discipline, to the student (we assign public IP
addresses to our student network for such purposes) since we can look up who was assigned to that address at the time
of the notice infringement, and a copy to IT. The students access to the internet is cut off until they have a
disciplinary hearing at which time the student discipline board turns it back on.

This actually is a great segway into the question: how do different institutions address these takedown notices? are
the original takedowns made public? are there disciplinary consequences to the alleged infringer? how do you track down
who is doing the alleged infringing? (external IP to internal, IP to person, etc?)

Thank You
Frank

Wendell - at least now there is publicly-available, archived proof
that you respond to DMCA takedown notices in a timely fashion!
