Since we’re off on a fun tangent: Actually Education Department is “ED”, both caps, in the DC vernacular. As David points out, DoE is Energy. Every department gets to pick its abbreviation, and “ED” dates back to the creation of the Department way back when. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ greg jackson ▬▬▬▬▬▬ sdccd.edu ▬▬▬▬▬▬ gjackson.us ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 1-773-936-9235 From: David Escalante<mailto:david.escalante () BC EDU> Sent: Thursday, December 7, 2017 11:53 AM To: SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU<mailto:SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU> Subject: Re: [SECURITY] Dept of Edu Letters Apropos of nothing, was just talking about this internally with a group here that included a former employee of the Department of Energy. She was horrified that any of us might use the TLA "DoE" regarding Federal Student Aid, and told us that the cool cats in Washington DC know that "DoE" is Energy, and Education is just "Ed". I am not a cool cat, but am passing her comment on in case anyone wants to up their coolness quotient.... -- David Escalante
