Good afternoon.

I hope the pandemic response efforts on your campuses are going as smoothly as possible.

Internet2 has been monitoring the community discussions, received feedback from community members, and specific
feedback from the NET+ Palo Alto service evaluation group over the last several weeks. Some of this feedback has been
focused on the challenges that campuses are facing around the rapid transition to remote learning and work. Internet2
recently published blogs based on feedback from the networking community on current VPN challenges:

Additionally, Internet2 published an update on R&E Networks Supporting the Academic Enterprise in Unprecedented Times:

Internet2’s NET+ team has been discussing a program with Palo Alto Networks for the last 3-4 months and has engaged 6
campuses to conduct a service evaluation. Given the rapidly changing environment around remote learning and work, the
team received feedback from campuses that one aspect of the NET+ Palo Alto Prisma service - Prisma Access - may be of
particular and immediate interest to the Higher Education community. The Prisma Access service has VPN functionality,
combined with additional security capabilities. Palo Alto and Internet2 are developing a custom offering, with custom
pricing, to meet this immediate need. This initial pre-service evaluation agreement will then enable institutions to
later migrate to a future NET+ Palo Alto agreement, once completed.

Therefore, Internet2 and Palo Alto have scheduled a NET+ Palo Alto community call on April 1, 2020, at 2PM ET/11AM PT
featuring Princeton’s Joe Karam who will share Princeton’s experience with Palo Alto’s Prisma Access plus solicit your
feedback on how to further develop this pre-service evaluation program to meet immediate community needs. Please
register for this community call to learn more or contact Nick Lewis (nlewis () internet2 edu<mailto:nlewis ()
internet2 edu>) if you have any questions. Registration is available:

Internet2 will make a webinar recording available for all registrants.
