Hello,

Many thanks to the people who took the time to answer my coupla
questions (in order of time received):

Frank Smith <franks () tradeonemktg-aus com>
Jochen Bern <bern () penthesilea uni-trier de>
Matti Siltanen <matti () fugue jpl nasa gov>
Technical Incursion Countermeasures <lists () ticm com>

1] Suppose I have a TELNET/RLOGIN proxy that I can config to listen to
multiple ports. Can I use that TELNET/RLOGIN proxy to secure other
interactive protocols? Like POP, SMTP, SSH, RSH, or whatever?
2] For those remote offices using congested Internet links, do you know
of a proxy/tool that can act as POP client and server (in one machine)
for many users? Preferrably freeware/shareware, on Solaris SPARC/x86
(WinNT x86 can also be OK). If not, commercial stuff will also be nice.

The answers for Q#2 was unanimously fetchmail, and it can be found in
http://sagan.earthspace.net/~esr/fetchmail/ .

For Q#1, almost everybody says it will work except that my TELNET proxy
will not filter for attacks via the protocols. It is too simple to do
so. Maybe the best it can do is to hide my internal IP addresses to that
of the firewall itself, and maybe even some buffer overrun attacks.

Thank you very much for your kind help!

D.
