I don't believe that you can close the relay on cc:Mail. Windows NT Option Pack 4 has a smtp server that can block relays. Or use Linux BSD etc. If you have an extra computer you can use it for your inbound mail. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Frank Keeney, Network Services, Home Savings of America +1 626-814-5080 mailto:fkeeney () hsa com / mailto:frank () pasadena net ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ---------- From: Colin Horsington [SMTP:c.horsington () aas com au] Sent: Tuesday, June 29, 1999 4:12 PM To: firewall-wizards () nfr net Subject: SMTP open relays Hi all, A company I support have a Lotus cc:Mail Link to SMTP outside a firewall (we won;t go into why!!!) the version is 8.00.00 build 44. Running on Mircosoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. SP3. I has been reported in the orbs database as an open mail relay. (www.orbs.org) I have checked both the Lotus cc:Mail support pages and any links available from the orbs web pages but have found no references on how to prevent the SMTP link from being an open relay. Any help would be muchly appreciated (by the end of the year they will be behind a fire wall but...)
