connection  to the client DNS server on TCP port 7 and then dropping the connection.

Can anybody believe such arrant nonsense?  And especially a person
calling himself ... what was it ...

Of course, this "technical" explanation was probably quoted by help
desk people from sales brochures.

Everyone who hangs their DNS servers off port 7 for pre-forming latency
measurements, raise your hands.  No, the ones attached to your arms.
