Are Security Experts giving into NT?

It seems that every time that I turn around there is a 'Security' vendor
trying to sell me a software solution that is NT only, or where I am
required to use an NT console. Even companies who use to support UNIX only
solutions are moving to this methodology.

Is this just me? Or is everyone seeing the same thing? Are you demanding
that they support a UNIX only solution? Do they pretend to listen?

I understand that there are religious wars on the subject, but that aside.
If you give NT to a UNIX only shop then you can say that security has been
down graded. I say this because, the UNIX shop does not have the proper NT
support. The cost of an Intel platform, the OS, the software may all be
cheaper, BUT this shop now has to procure NT knowledge for Sys Admin,
security engineers, network engineers, developers, and etceteras.

Security implementations of NT is very different than UNIX. They are two
different animals. Take the same thing that I mentioned above and reverse
NT and UNIX and it would still be true.

I understand vendors preference to serve NT first, just give me my choice of
UNIX.
