It isn't even :remotely as good as tcpdump. : :To answer the original question, the "standard" tcpdump distribution :will compile and run on solaris just fine. I've found that Sun's snoop interpreter does the best interpretation of NFS/NIS/ONC traffic, which shouldn't be that surprising. It has its niche (though probably not in the firewall area). I believe one can convert the snoop/RFC 1761 binary format to tcpdump binary format using tcptrace, if they wanted the best of both worlds. -- Michael J.
