Raptor is going strong as the Symantec Enterprise Firewall and a version 7.0 has just been released with a Velociraptor version available. It appears that this is Symantec's main entry in the firewalls field so it does has a fairly large company behind it that is not about to go broke tomorrow. It has even reached the point were there are bugtraq advisories about it. A recent one was susceptibility to FPT bounces (which are allowed by the standard). They came up with a patch within 2 days of Bugtrag announcement (without pre-warning), so someone is spending time maintaining it. -----Original Message----- From: firewall-wizards-admin () nfr com [mailto:firewall-wizards-admin () nfr com]On Behalf Of Mike Shaw Sent: Tue April 30 2002 13:04 To: firewall-wizards () nfr com Subject: [fw-wiz] VelociRaptor: Still viable Besides the truly geeky open source solutions, Raptor has historically been my favorite firewall. It's been a year since I've had direct admin work w/ it though, so with merger and purchase fever I don't know what it's status is. Does anyone know what the plan is? Will it be around? Is the support any good? Are new features being worked on or is it coasting? Any input would be appreciated. -Mike _______________________________________________ firewall-wizards mailing list firewall-wizards () nfr com http://list.nfr.com/mailman/listinfo/firewall-wizards _______________________________________________ firewall-wizards mailing list firewall-wizards () nfr com http://list.nfr.com/mailman/listinfo/firewall-wizards
